Dysport

The new alternative to Botox

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Dysport, the first new botulinum toxin for wrinkles and muscle spasticity since cosmetic Botox was introduced in 2002. Like Botox, this latest wrinkle fighter is a modified version of botulinum toxin A and inhibits facial muscle contractions that over time lead to forehead lines, frown lines and crows feet. Many patients have experienced a longer lasting effect with Dysport vs Botox.

Over time, repeated movement of the facial skin by the muscles forms frown lines between the eyebrows, the forehead, and eyes. Wrinkles are not only age related. Frown lines are “dynamic”—they happen because of the way a person’s face moves. Because frown lines are created by facial movements such as frowning or squinting,  even younger adults can benefit from periodic Dysport procedures.
